What Are 3 Healthy Late Night Snacks?

If you’re like most people and crave late night snacks, make sure you’re making the right choices. Late night snacking can be dangerous and can lead to rapid weight gain. At night, your metabolism slows down since you’re not as active as during the day and because of this, you will metabolize food at a much slower rate. By sticking to plan and making smart choices, late night snacking won’t hinder your goals.

If you’re looking for a snack that’s sweet, why not try a ½ cup of plain Greek yoghurt. This is a great choice for a late night snack. Add your favourite berries to the bowl and you got yourself a great snack! Since the fruit is so sweet, it will satisfy that sweet tooth of yours and the protein from the yoghurt will leave you feeling full.

Cut up an apple into slices and dip them into 1-2tsp of your favourite natural nut butter. Whether it’s peanut butter, almond butter or cashew butter, these are all packed with good vitamins, nutrients and good fats that are great for your body. Nut butter is creamy and very rich so you don’t need to consume a lot of it to make you feel satisfied.

If you’re in the mood for a little spice, rather than sweet, try eating ½ cup of edamame with some salsa. Edamame is a great choice to keep you on plan because it’s loaded with protein- as much as eggs or meat. It is also rich in vitamins A, C and fibre.  Edamame is the only vegetable that provides our bodies with 9 essential amino acids, making it a very popular snack for those people watching their weight.

Mixing the edamame with salsa gives it a nice kick of flavour and will be sure to keep those cravings in check.

A mini can of tuna and 2-3 Finn Crisp crackers is a great late night snack. Tuna is packed with protein and is low in calories, making it a good choice for men’s weight loss. Finn Crisp crackers have lots of fibre in them, which fills you up without adding extra pounds. Spread some tuna on the crackers to make this a delicious, healthy snack.

Avoiding late night snacking altogether is definitely the best suggestion, however, a majority of people find that to be tough. It definitely takes a lot of self-control to not eat at night while sitting in front of the TV or relaxing with your significant other, therefore, If you must eat at night, follow the suggestions above in order to stay on plan. Look for snacks that are high in protein, high in fibre but low in calories. Happy eating!
