How Do I Keep The Weight Off?

As hard as losing weight is, keeping the weight off is just as difficult. There are a few tricks though that anyone can do that will help keep your weight down without any cheats. Follow these rules and you’ll stay on the right track.

Never Miss Meals – skipping meals means that you’ll feel hungry and will reach for a snack. Fasting isn’t healthy. Never miss your meals, meaning 3 full meals per day. Unfortunately, the impulse snacks we go for are usually high calorie, high-fat items such as cookies, doughnuts, chips etc. You need to make the time and effort to plan your food shopping and meals carefully.

Eat And Exercise Consistently – schedule meal times and exercise time even when your routine is different. Whether on vacation, during the holiday season, working away from home, dining out, parties – whatever the scenario – stick to your weight loss plan. It’s easier to stick to a plan when you’re at home but it’s simply more of a challenge under different circumstances. Treat weight loss as if you were a boy scout – always be prepared! Be smart and plan accordingly!

Stay Away From Foods That Make You Fat – duh, right? This seems like a no-brainer but it’s a vital thing to do. You obviously know what type of food you were eating when you gained weight. It may have been one or two items that were your particular downfall – perhaps it was fries, maybe it was ice cream. You know yourself better than anyone, and understand your vices. Knowledge is power and by knowing what made you overweight, makes it easier for you to know what to avoid. And if you have a spouse or kids, have them avoid those foods as well, which will help you stay on track.

Keeping the weight off is a challenge, but we have to view it as a project. Like with any project, you have to stay focused and see things through. Once you have developed a new healthier way of eating, you may never want to slip back to your old ways. Having successfully achieved your goal of losing weight has increased your self-esteem and empowered you to change. Who wants to lose out on this for a bag of chips!
